Lake Oswego's Farmers' Market wraps its 25th anniversary season at Millennium Plaza Park, with Saturdays at the market running through Oct. 31.

October also brings a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, free books at the library and city-hosted waste and drug take-back events. Here is what residents need to know.

The market operates every Saturday at 200 1st St., from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Admission is free. Shoppers can find produce, meats, seafood, cheeses, baked goods, flowers and artisan goods. Live music plays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and families can join the Farm Fresh Kids Program. A SNAP matching program covers up to $20 each week, according to the community events site Love Lake Oswego.

The city's Fall 2026 Activity Guide also lists a Reunion Farmers' Market on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Millennium Plaza Park. That event will feature fall produce, horse-drawn carriage rides and SNAP matching.

Lakewood Center stages Pulitzer winner through Oct. 18

The Lakewood Center for the Arts is in its final weeks of "You Can't Take It With You," a 1936 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy running through Oct. 18 at 368 S. State St. The play follows a family of eccentrics who pursue oddball hobbies instead of making money. Chaos erupts when a young woman invites her fiancé's wealthy, buttoned-up parents to dinner.

Director Don Alder told the Lake Oswego Review in August that the script has the fast-talking wit of the Marx Brothers. "It's a funny, nice, warm, happy evening to spend with some wacky folks," Alder said.

Evening shows run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees and the Saturday, Oct. 10, performance start at 2 p.m. Tickets are $47 for adults and $30 for youth under 25, with a $3 online service fee.

Library celebrates Freedom to Read Month

The Lake Oswego Public Library, at 706 Fourth St., is giving away free copies of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky starting Thursday, Oct. 1, while supplies last. The coming-of-age novel has frequently been challenged or banned for its treatment of mental health, substance use and LGBTQ+ themes. Copies are available at the second-floor reference desk.

The library also hosts a "Dear Friend Creative Letter Writing" workshop on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. as part of Freedom to Read Month.

City hosts waste drop-off and drug take-back

A free Bulky Waste and Mattress Recycling drop-off takes place Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Republic Services, 10295 SW Ridder Road, Wilsonville. Lake Oswego residents can haul old furniture, appliances, mattresses and scrap metal. Participants must unload items themselves. Travis Comfort can answer questions at 503-826-3897.

The city's Fall Drug Take Back Event runs Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mary's Woods, 17550 Provost St. The free drive-through accepts prescription and over-the-counter medications, veterinary medicines and vape pens without batteries.
