Lakeridge opens fall soccer practices Monday, Aug. 17, as the defending Three Rivers League champion with four returning all-league players, headlined by senior goalkeeper Collin Cernitz, the 2025 TRL Goalkeeper of the Year.
The Pacers went 15-1-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league play last fall before their season ended with a 4-2 loss to No. 5 Grant in the Class 6A state semifinals on Nov. 11, according to the Lake Oswego Review's season preview. Grant went on to finish as state runner-up. Now head coach Alan Cox's squad reloads with a senior-heavy core aiming to reclaim both the league crown and a deeper playoff run.
Joining Cernitz on the returning all-TRL list are junior forward Jackson Romero, a 2025 first-team selection, plus senior forward Zavier Lara and senior midfielder Callum Morrison, both second-team honorees. Romero led Lakeridge with seven goals through the first six games of the 2025 season, including the game-winner in a 2-1 victory at Jesuit on Sept. 22 that snapped the Crusaders' 31-game home unbeaten streak.
Cernitz made three saves Cox called "top quality" in the second half of that same match. The program has won four straight TRL titles dating to 2022 and captured the 2023 Class 6A state championship, reaching at least the state quarterfinals in each of the past four years.
West Linn returns three all-league seniors
Rival West Linn, which finished second in the TRL at 4-1 and 14-2-2 overall in 2025, also reached the state semifinals as the No. 2 seed before falling 2-1 to eventual 6A champion Beaverton in overtime, 4-3 on penalty kicks.
The Lions bring back three all-league seniors: midfielder Sam Leedy (first team), midfielder Lincoln Kensinger (second team) and defender Jonas Taylor (second team). West Linn placed four players on the 2025 all-TRL first team and had 11 honored overall.
What's ahead
The 2025 TRL Player of the Year, Lakeridge senior Max Harris-Inman, has graduated, leaving a scoring void the Pacers will need Romero, Lara and Morrison to fill. Official 2026 rosters have not been released, and the preview notes athletes may have transferred.
No 2026 league schedule has been released. The first confirmed date on the calendar is the Aug. 17 practice opener.
