U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley is seeking reelection in Oregon’s Nov. 3, 2026, general election. The Secretary of State’s general-election filings list him as qualified under the Democratic and Working Families nominations.

The other qualified candidates for U.S. Senate are Republican David Brock Smith, Libertarian Gary Lyndon Dye and Chris Henry, who carries the Progressive and Pacific Green nominations. This statewide contest is on the ballot for Lake Oswego voters.

On his campaign biography, Merkley says he grew up in Myrtle Creek, Roseburg and East Multnomah County and was the first in his family to graduate from college.

Campaign priorities

Merkley’s campaign platform calls for ending partisan gerrymandering, overturning Citizens United and strengthening the Voting Rights Act. He supports early voting, voting by mail and same-day registration, as well as direct election of presidents.

On climate, he advocates a transition to clean and renewable energy and a Green New Deal that links that transition to jobs and investment in communities.

He supports Medicare for All and limiting drug prices by reference to prices in Canada, Europe and Japan. His education proposals include smaller elementary school classes, technical education and debt-free college. He also calls for affordable housing and child care and investment in infrastructure and rural broadband.
