Suzanne Miles is one of six certified candidates for Lake Oswego City Council in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. The city's certified list says voters may choose four candidates. The three highest vote-getters will serve four-year terms, and the fourth will fill a two-year vacancy beginning in January 2027.
The other candidates are Bryan Guiney, Heather Ramsey, Neil Tunmore, Patrick Walsh and Peren Tiemann. The contest is nonpartisan.
A biography published by the U.S. District Court for its 2026 conference identifies Miles as a former assistant U.S. attorney and says she served as criminal appellate chief in the District of Oregon until March 2026. It also lists federal prosecution work in Oregon and Northern California and teaching at Berkeley Law, the University of Oregon School of Law and the National Advocacy Center.
Lewis & Clark Law School's faculty biography identifies her as founder of Suzanne Miles Law, LLC, and lists a fall 2026 mock-trial course. Her law firm's own biography describes trial and appellate legal experience.
On sustainability
In responses published Sept. 22 by the Lake Oswego Sustainability Network, Miles said environmental effects should be considered throughout city decisions, including development, infrastructure and transportation.
She called for a transition away from gas leaf blowers that accounts for costs to small businesses and emphasizes education and incentives. For Foothills redevelopment, she said wastewater heat recovery and sustainable building design should be evaluated early.
Miles also identified tree cover, vegetation management and collaboration with environmental experts as important to addressing fire and landslide risks. These are her policy positions supplied directly to the organization. They are separate from a Surround Sound Media questionnaire; no submitted Surround Sound response was identified.
