Forty-six local artists will fill the walls of Artspace Gallery starting Friday, Aug. 7, when "What We (Be)Hold" opens with a free reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 380 A Ave., Suite A, in Lake Oswego.

The group exhibition runs through Friday, Oct. 30, giving residents nearly three months to visit. It is the largest group show at Artspace this year, dwarfing the seven-artist "Thinking Through Mud: Arrangements of Clay + Ikebana" that ran from Feb. 20 through April 10.

Guest curator Kendra Roberts selected the 46 participants from an open call. Roberts is an artist and founder of Common Ground Arts who currently serves as director of Portland's Blackfish Gallery and president of the Portland Art Dealers' Association.

The Arts Council of Lake Oswego, which operates the nonprofit gallery, said the works span multiple mediums and "embrace the spirit of what holds our focused attention, wonder, or spiritual contemplation, as well as what we keep close."

Admission is free.

Among the artists showing work: Audrey Ahern, Malon Al-Jiboori, Justin Auld, Irina Belova, Lisa Brinkman, Jason Brown, Bari Dreiband Burman, Becky Chinn, David Cohen, Connie H Colter, Matt Foter, Lindsey Fox, Fred Gerendasy, Peter Gomena, Wayne Harrel, Megan Hatch, Lindsey Holcomb, Diane Jacobs, Anna Kaufman, Hannah Kennedy, Marie Lo, Marne Lucas, Ron Maben, Anne Mavor, Kathleen McFall, Evelyn Kathleen McLean, Daniel McMurry, Ruth Meijer, Mona Monroe, Leah Nadeau, Willy Paul, Anna Gray + Ryan Wilson Paulsen, Jenna Philpott, Betsy Power, Erin Power, Jennifer Rottinghaus, Diego Gilberto Sánchez, Leslie Peterson Sapp, Elizabeth Serreau, Harley Talkington, Libby Wadsworth, Gia Whitlock, Beth Wilson, April Xu, Masha Yaremenko and Wesley Younie.
