Barton Park's East Loop campground along the Clackamas River stays open through Oct. 31 for tent campers and through Nov. 15 for self-contained RVs, according to the fall schedule Clackamas County Parks posted on its website.
The county published its fall camping guide on Monday, Sept. 14, detailing which parks remain open for overnight stays and day use after the regular camping season closes Sept. 30. The parks office is based in Oregon City, and the campgrounds sit within a short drive of Lake Oswego, West Linn and Stafford.
Barton Park: open through mid-November
Barton Park, at 19009 SE Barton Park Road in Boring, has 112 campsites, 103 with water and electric hookups. The East Loop breaks into two schedules after Sept. 30:
- Tent camping: Oct. 1–31, by reservation only.
- RV camping: Through Oct. 31 in the regular season, then self-contained RVs only Nov. 1–15.
The West Loop closes Sept. 30.
Barton also has six dedicated hammock sites beneath a converted picnic shelter. The park offers 1.5 miles of hiking trails, fishing and boat access on the Clackamas River.
Metzler Park: disc golf returns Oct. 1
Metzler Park, along Clear Creek south of Estacada, closes its campground Sept. 30. But the park's 18-hole disc golf course fully reopens Thursday, Oct. 1.
The back nine (holes 10–18) is closed each summer during camping season and reopens for fall and winter play. Open play is free; a daily parking fee applies.
Metzler also has 2.5 miles of hiking trails. During the open camping season, the park offers designated sites for van and rooftop tent camping along with standard and primitive campsites.
Feyrer Park: last call Sept. 30
Feyrer Park's camping season ends Sept. 30. The park has 10 newly built walk-in campsites on its south side and 20 RV and tent sites to the north.
Boat access to the Molalla River opens Thursday, Oct. 1 and runs through April 30, 2027.
Day use and fire rules
Day-use areas at Barton, Eagle Fern, Feyrer and Metzler parks are open year-round.
As of Sept. 14, county parks are at a moderate fire danger level. Campfires under 12 inches are allowed in designated fire pits but must not be left unattended. Charcoal and gas grills are also permitted.
How to reserve
Reservations must be made at least three days in advance and can be booked up to one year out. Groups of 10 or more campsites should call the parks reservation line at 503-742-4414.
Registered campers get free hot showers.
The Clackamas County Parks office, at 150 Beavercreek Road in Oregon City, is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Full details are at clackamas.us/parks.
