Clackamas Community College is recruiting manufacturers to host hands-on booths for up to 1,000 students at its Oct. 2 Manufacturing Day in Oregon City.

The college wants local trades employers and manufacturing firms to connect with middle and high school students at the event, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Holden Industrial Technology Center on CCC's Oregon City campus, 19600 Molalla Ave. Businesses must register by Friday, Sept. 25, according to the college.

Themed "Explore the Trades," the day gives companies three ways to participate: hosting an interactive booth or demonstration, offering students a behind-the-scenes tour of their facilities, or sponsoring career-exploration activities.

Portland General Electric is the event's sponsor.

CCC is organizing Manufacturing Day with Clackamas Workforce Partnership, Clackamas Education Service District (Clackamas ESD), South Metro-Salem STEM Partnership and We Boil the Ocean (WBTO).

WBTO, a workforce-development firm, had identified nearly 200 manufacturers along the Sunrise Corridor as of July 2026, according to a Clackamas County newsletter.

"Manufacturers keep telling us they want to open their doors to young people; they just need a clear and workable way to do it … We are building that bridge from a high school manufacturing classroom to a real production environment and, ultimately, to a career here in Clackamas County," WBTO CEO Chris Holden said in that July newsletter.

The event fits a broader push to connect students with local employers. A Lightcast economic impact report released Sept. 9 found CCC contributed $328 million in added income to the Clackamas County economy in fiscal year 2023-24 and supported 3,762 jobs.

CCC President Tim Cook said in a Sept. 9 statement announcing the report that when students "gain skills, earn degrees and certificates, and work family-wage jobs, not only do local employers gain the skilled workforce they need, but our entire community benefits."
