If your business sits outside city limits in Clackamas County, your garbage bill just went up.
Commercial collection fees rose effective Tuesday, July 1, hitting businesses in the county's rural and urban fee zones. The county's Board of County Commissioners, chaired by Craig Roberts, approved the increases after staff cited rising labor, fuel, and disposal costs.
The increase affects two areas:
- Urban commercial customers: up $1.09 per cubic yard per pickup
- Rural commercial customers: up $0.94 per cubic yard per pickup
For a typical 4-cubic-yard dumpster picked up twice a week, that means about $33 to $38 more per month, depending on location.
Businesses in the county’s more remote rural and mountain zones will not see an increase, and the most common 1- to 8-cubic-yard container rates remain unchanged.
The new fees apply only to businesses in unincorporated Clackamas County. Businesses in Lake Oswego, West Linn and Oregon City are not affected because those cities set their own garbage rates.
Businesses with questions about their rates should contact their garbage hauler or the county’s Sustainability & Solid Waste Program at 503-742-4458 or [email protected].
