Lake Oswego football and West Linn boys cross country are both up for The Oregonian/OregonLive's statewide Team of the Week, giving area fans two programs to rally behind before voting closes Sunday, Oct. 25, at 11:59 p.m.

The nominations, published by OregonLive sports writer Dan Brood, recognize the No. 1 Lakers for their 35-0 shutout of Tigard and the Lions for winning the Stumptown Showdown.

The winner will be announced Monday.

Lakers roll to 7-0

Senior quarterback Ryder Lemm powered the Lake Oswego offense in the Three Rivers League (TRL) blowout, throwing for 333 yards. The OregonLive nomination credited Lemm with three passing touchdowns and two rushing scores. The Lake Oswego Review's recap listed four passing touchdowns on a 20-for-33 line with no interceptions.

The Lakers built a 28-0 halftime lead and triggered the running clock in the second half, according to the Review. Senior wide receiver Cam Elijah caught five passes for 117 yards. Senior Jasiah Agnimel hauled in four catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore running back Jacob Lugo added 88 yards on five carries.

On defense, senior Lukas Schindler led the team with eight tackles and an interception. Senior linebacker Cash Wilks added seven tackles. Senior defensive backs Griffin Ellingson and Summit Cvitash each picked off a pass.

The win pushed Lake Oswego to 3-0 in the TRL and 7-0 overall, extending the program's winning streak to 13 games over two seasons.

Lake Oswego head coach Steve Coury, now in his 37th year leading the program, praised Lemm's readiness in an August preseason feature in the Lake Oswego Review: "In two of the three times we were able to win [state titles], we had quarterbacks that were in the system, they waited their turn to play and their senior year, they were ready … And that's how I feel about Ryder."

Lions win Stumptown Showdown

West Linn's boys cross country team took first at the Stumptown Showdown with 72 points, beating Franklin's 82. Senior Leo Brown finished third in the individual standings.

Brown, a four-year varsity runner, holds the third-fastest 5K time in West Linn history at 14:50.8, breaking the previous school record set by Roman Ollar in 2015.

He told the West Linn High School student news site wlhsNOW in September that he is hoping to run in college and was planning visits.

Lakeridge also earned a nod in the statewide poll. The Pacers' girls cross country team finished second at the Stumptown Showdown with 97 points, trailing only Franklin's 91, in the entry for Franklin girls cross country.
