Lake Grove Presbyterian Church will host a fundraiser for a Tigard homeless shelter that pulled in $10,000 last year.
The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the church, 4040 Sunset Drive in Lake Oswego. It will feature live music, food and local artisans selling handmade goods, according to the Lake Oswego Review.
All proceeds go to Family Promise of Tualatin Valley (FPTV), which operates the Bridge to Home shelter in Tigard. The shelter has 70 rooms and houses about 200 people at a time, with residents staying three to six months.
Headlining the music is Tom May, a Pacific Northwest folk singer who has performed for more than four decades. May has lived in the region since 1996. He founded Winterfolk, an annual benefit concert for Sisters of the Road Café in Portland, and hosts the nationally syndicated radio program River City Folk, heard on more than 100 stations.
A press release described May as a longtime advocate for homeless causes who will play an original song about homelessness at the fundraiser.
Sher Ireland, event coordinator for Family Promise of Tualatin Valley, said she expects the event to match or top last year's total. "This event promises to be every bit as good, if not better than last year," Ireland said.
FPTV relies in part on private donations alongside Metro's Supportive Housing Services measure to fund its programs. The organization says its shelter, prevention and follow-up programs serve hundreds of children each year, keeping them housed and enrolled in school.
The shelter draws volunteers and donors from across the Lake Oswego area. In October 2025, FPTV volunteer coordinator Ann Erickson told the Lake Oswego Review that the people living at the shelter "are our neighbors" and called participation "an act of caring."
