Parents who bought Peter Rabbit Organics fruit pouches at Kroger, Meijer, or Target should check their pantries: a Lake Oswego company has recalled select children's snack pouches after finding strands of plastic inside some of them.
PT Organics Limited voluntarily recalled its Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry 4 oz. pouches on Tuesday, July 21, according to a notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The company said a packaging defect may have left a strand of soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of a small number of pouches.
The recall traces back to PT Organics' packaging supplier, which recalled a production run of defective pouches the week before July 21.
PT Organics then inspected its finished products and confirmed the plastic was present in some pouches, the FDA notice stated.
No injuries have been reported.
Which products are affected
The recall covers only the Banana & Strawberry 4 oz. (113g) pouches bearing barcode 8 15367 01078 0 with the following best-before dates:
- January 19, 2027
- January 20, 2027
- March 17, 2027
- March 18, 2027
- May 14, 2027
- May 15, 2027
These pouches were sold at Kroger, Meijer, and Target stores nationwide between Friday, March 6, and Monday, July 13.
What parents should do
The FDA advises customers who purchased the affected pouches to dispose of them immediately or return them to the store where they were bought for a full refund. The company directed consumers to pumpkintreesnacks.com for additional information.
PT Organics Limited, based in Lake Oswego, markets organic children's snacks under the Pumpkin Tree brand, including the Peter Rabbit Organics line.
The recall was listed as open in the FDA's July 22 notice. No timeline for resolution or further investigation was specified.
