Lakeridge girls water polo is 12-0 and ranked No. 1 in Oregon, beating every ranked opponent the Pacers have faced as they pursue a return to the Class 6A championship.
The unbeaten run includes wins over seven ranked teams, the Lake Oswego Review reported Oct. 8. Lakeridge beat No. 2 Summit 6-1, shut out No. 3 Hood River Valley 10-0, topped No. 4 Lake Oswego 10-4 in the Battle of the Lake, beat No. 5 South Eugene 13-1, defeated No. 7 Barlow 15-1 and blanked No. 9 Newberg 15-0. The Pacers also beat No. 10 Sunset 15-3.
The South Eugene result stands out. The Axe ended Lakeridge's three-year state championship run with a 10-3 win in the 2025 Class 6A title game on Nov. 16, 2025, at Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center. The Pacers had won three consecutive state titles from 2022 through 2024, including nine straight playoff wins during that stretch.
This fall, Lakeridge beat the defending champions 13-1.
"This year, we are trying to get that state title after losing to South Eugene last year … But I feel like we are on the right track," senior Denika Campbell told the Lake Oswego Review.
Sophomore Ella Miller leads the team with 40 goals and 26 assists through 12 games, according to MaxPreps stats updated Oct. 7. Campbell has added 28 goals, 18 assists and 41 steals, according to the Lake Oswego Review.
Freshman Kira Bryson has emerged as a two-way force with 24 goals and a team-high 45 steals. Freshman June McClurg (16 goals, 34 steals) and junior Sophia Kelly (12 goals, 35 steals) round out a deep roster.
Junior goalie Teodora Grigore anchors the defense. She has posted five shutouts, made 91 saves and carries a 1.1 goals-against average per MaxPreps. In the Oct. 5 Battle of the Lake win alone, Grigore stopped 14 shots.
Both Grigore and Miller earned first-team all-tournament honors at the 2025 state tournament. Campbell received honorable mention.
The Pacers are 4-0 in Three Rivers League play. First-year head coach Ella Smith, a second-team all-tournament selection as a Lakeridge player in 2025, has the program unbeaten in her debut season.
Grigore told the Lake Oswego Review that winning state is "becoming more and more attainable."
The OSAA has not yet announced 2026 state playoff dates.
