The Oregon City School District named Angie Gilbert its 2026 Future Ready Award recipient for her work connecting students to career and college pathways.
The district announced the award Sept. 4. It is part of OCSD's Strategic Plan Staff Awards, which recognize employees who help students prepare for life after high school.
Gilbert serves as the district's School-to-Career Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA). In that role, she works at the district level to connect schools, students, families, employers and community partners.
Her portfolio is specific. According to the district's awards announcement, Gilbert connects students to programs including Women in Trades, Women in Manufacturing, robotics and woodshop projects, field trips and the Youth Trades Initiative.
She also supports OCSD's Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) pre-apprenticeship program, which helps students explore career pathways before graduation.
Gilbert was one of 10 OCSD employees honored at the district's Welcome Back Day ceremony in September, which marked the start of the 2026–27 school year.
The 10 winners were selected from more than 120 nominations across five Strategic Plan categories: Instructional Excellence; Career & College Readiness; Robust Systems of Belonging & Well-Being; Engaged Communities; and Safe & Engaging Learning Environments.
Gilbert's award falls under Career & College Readiness. That pillar focuses on giving every student access to learning experiences, guidance and real-world connections needed to graduate prepared for a next step, whether that means college, career training, apprenticeships, military service or the workforce.
The district said Gilbert's work helps students gain the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices about college, careers and life after graduation.
She was one of 10 chosen from more than 120 nominees districtwide.
