An LGBTQ+ festival that grew from a confrontational debut into a countywide coalition returns to Oregon City on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Clackamas Community College.
The all-ages Oregon City Pride festival runs noon to 5 p.m. at the college, 19600 Molalla Ave. It features live performances, vendors and family activities.
Four years ago, the inaugural Oregon City Pride drew confrontations with right-wing groups and made national news, reporter Samantha Swindler wrote for The Oregonian.
Since then, organizers have incorporated as a nonprofit and helped launch a countywide Pride coalition aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ neighbors in smaller Clackamas County communities.
Oregon City Pride describes itself on its website as a nonprofit focused on positive change in Oregon City.
The coalition angle sets this year's event apart. Organizers told The Oregonian that the festival highlights the importance of LGBTQ+ support in smaller communities.
The event has settled into Clackamas Community College as its home venue. A Travel Oregon City guide shows the 2025 festival was also held on the college lawn, with a photo of square dancers performing for the crowd.
After the daytime festival wraps, a 21+ afterparty called Drag-aoke takes over Oregon City IceHouse, 1200 Main St. Doors open at 7 p.m., with drag karaoke starting at 8 p.m.
Several local businesses are participating in the broader Pride celebration, according to Travel Oregon City, including Arch Bridge Taphouse, Highland Stillhouse Pub, Corcilla Cellars and White Rabbit Book Cafe.
