Oregon artist Kim Ellingson will fill the Lake Oswego Public Library's Stairwell Gallery with watercolor, ink, and graphite paintings of the state's coastlines and landscapes throughout August.

The one month long exhibit, titled "Interpretations of Oregon Landscapes,". It's free, requires no registration, and is open anytime the library is.

Ellingson is a self-taught mixed media painter whose work has appeared in juried exhibitions across the region, according to the city's official listing for the show. She is an active member of two Portland-area arts guilds.

The Stairwell Gallery occupies ten 4-by-4-foot wall-mounted panels along the library's interior staircase, a space reserved for two-dimensional work such as paintings, photography, and collages. The gallery rotates artists monthly and gives priority to local artists from Lake Oswego and the greater Portland area, according to library documents.

April Younglove, adult services librarian at the Lake Oswego Public Library, coordinates the Stairwell Gallery program. Residents with questions about the exhibit can reach Younglove at 503-534-5667 or [email protected].

The library is located at 706 Fourth St., Lake Oswego. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.

Artists interested in exhibiting future work in the Stairwell Gallery can contact Younglove at the same email address. The library's call-for-artists page notes that exhibits are scheduled roughly a year in advance.
