A burglar broke into three food carts at Corner 14 in downtown Oregon City early Sunday, Aug. 23, forcing entry, stealing items and fleeing on a bicycle.
Oregon City Police identified the targeted businesses as Bite N Roll, Krazy Kokunut and Oregon City Burger Co., all part of the popular food cart pod at 508 14th St. The break-ins happened around 2 a.m., according to a police press release issued Monday, Aug. 24.
The suspect is described as a white male adult with long blonde hair, possibly a beard, wearing a medical-style face mask. He forced his way into the carts, took unspecified items and left on a bicycle.
No arrests have been made.
One cart owner's security cameras captured the suspect, and police say the footage shows the same person hitting all three businesses, according to Patch's reporting. Cart owners have expressed concern the suspect may return.
Police have not released an estimated dollar value of the losses or specified what was taken.
Corner 14, which opened in 2021, has grown into one of downtown Oregon City's busiest gathering spots, now hosting 14 food carts alongside a full bar, outdoor seating and live music.
Co-owner Cherisse Reilly told The Clackamas Print in 2021 that she was inspired by similar food cart setups she saw visiting family in Bend. "Why can't we have something similar in our hometown?" Reilly said at the time.
Fox 12 Oregon also reported on the burglaries on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The Oregon City Police Department asks anyone with information about the suspect or the break-ins to call the OCPD Tip Line at 503-905-0505 and reference case number 26-016633.
