A West Linn nonprofit reunited an Idaho family with their lost dog after a 12-day search through the Tanner Creek neighborhood.
Nancy and Randy Lamott were visiting from Idaho to attend a concert in Canby when their aussie/poodle mix, Peaches, slipped her harness during a walk and bolted, Oregon City News Online reported.
Kimber Hysell, founder of Waggin' Tails Search and Rescue, led the effort.
She alerted neighbors, set up trail cameras and used the family's Yorkshire terrier, Bruno, as a familiar scent lure in areas where Peaches had been spotted.
"One of the first things I tell my families is we get the word out and we control the humans," Hysell told Oregon City News Online.
Peaches evaded multiple capture attempts before Waggin' Tails trapped her in a cage capture about 3 a.m. on the 12th day. Nancy Lamott said strangers in the neighborhood joined the search.
Hysell founded the donation-funded nonprofit in 2019. It covers Clackamas, Washington, Multnomah and Columbia counties.
