West Linn's Transportation Advisory Board will meet this week for the first time in eight months, with a public transportation survey among its agenda items.
The July 15 session comes weeks before TriMet eliminates the Route 153 bus connecting West Linn to Lake Oswego.
The hybrid meeting begins at 6 p.m. at West Linn City Hall, 22500 Salamo Road. The posted agenda includes approval of November 2025 summary notes, confirming the board last met eight months ago.
Whether the survey discussion addresses the Route 153 elimination is unclear. The agenda does not describe the survey's scope.
TriMet's board voted 5-1 to eliminate Route 153 as part of $11 million in bus and MAX service cuts taking effect Sunday, August 23. The reductions are a slice of $64.5 million in total spending cuts driven by a $224 million structural deficit. Oregon voters rejected Measure 120 in May by nearly 83%, killing the gas tax and vehicle fee hikes that would have provided new transit revenue.
TriMet General Manager Sam Desue Jr. called the reductions "among the hardest actions I and the agency have seen over the last 30 years."
This Wednesday's agenda lists five business items: a recap of the board's 2025 wrap-up letter to the West Linn City Council, traffic safety updates, development updates, the public transportation survey discussion, and general capital project updates.
On the traffic safety front, West Linn Public Works Director Erich Lais told the West Linn Tidings in early July that the department is completing Safe Routes to Schools sidewalk work near Sunset Primary along Bitner Street and Long Street. Lais identified traffic and pedestrian safety as a city council priority.
"That's one of our most common requests, sidewalks and crossings," Lais said.
The TAB advises the city on the Transportation System Plan, Capital Improvement Program projects, and transportation demand management. Its next meeting after July 15 is listed as "to be determined" on the agenda.
