Rosewood drivers will face lane closures starting in August as Clackamas County builds a $193,000 flashing crosswalk at the intersection of SW Pilkington Road and SW Dawn Street.
The project, which the county expects to wrap up by October 2026, will add a flashing crosswalk beacon, new safety signs, pavement markings, and street lighting to the intersection.
The goal is to make pedestrians more visible to drivers at a crossing that currently lacks those features.
What drivers should expect
Construction will bring shoulder and lane closures along Pilkington Road near Dawn Street for up to two months. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.
Delays should be minimal, according to the county.
No specific start date has been announced beyond August 2026.
Who's paying
The $193,000 price tag is split between the Community Road Fund and developer contributions. The Community Road Fund is a county vehicle registration fee program that generates roughly $5.5 million per year for road safety, congestion relief, and maintenance projects across Clackamas County.
Separate from city sidewalk work
Residents along Pilkington Road may notice two distinct projects this year. The City of Lake Oswego is separately constructing new sidewalks along Pilkington Road between Boones Ferry Road and Lakeview Boulevard as part of its Pathways Program. That city project is unrelated to the county's crosswalk work at Dawn Street.

According to the county's project page, as of mid-July the county was still seeking construction proposals. A contractor has not been publicly named.
