Homes near SE 152nd Drive and Frontier Estates in unincorporated Clackamas County could lose the stormwater pipes running through their backyards under a new restoration plan for Rose Creek.
Clackamas Water Environment Services is studying improvements in the Sunnyside Village and Frontier Estates area after years of stormwater runoff caused erosion, damaged habitat and threatened nearby trails.
The project area includes the WES-owned natural area near SE 152nd Drive, Frontier Estates, Sieben Park and Oregon Trail Elementary School.
Officials say the redesign could eliminate storage pipes located on private property, making future maintenance easier and reducing utility easements through residential lots.
WES is also exploring new trails, educational signage and habitat improvements as part of the restoration.
The agency expects the conceptual design phase to finish by the end of 2026, with final design, permits and construction to follow. No construction date or cost estimate has been announced.
The WES Advisory Committee meets Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom, with a capital projects update likely to touch on Rose Creek. Public comment opens at 6:12 p.m.; join the Zoom meeting here.
