Lake Oswego families can now introduce their youngest children to Korean culture through a free monthly storytime at the public library, no fluency required.

Korean Storytime meets every fourth Sunday from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the Lake Oswego Public Library, 706 Fourth St., according to the library's event listing. The next session falls on Sunday, Aug. 23. Children ages 6 and under and their families sing songs, hear stories, and make crafts inspired by Korean and Asian cultural traditions. The program is presented in both Korean and English, and all skill levels are welcome.

Craft materials are limited and handed out first-come, first-served. No registration is needed.

The Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library sponsor the program, which the library's Youth Services Librarians lead. The library said the program welcomes everyone curious about Korean and Asian culture, inviting families to discover stories and traditions of Asia through singing, storytelling, and hands-on crafts. Part of a growing multilingual lineup

Korean Storytime joins a slate of multicultural children's programming at the library. Music and Movement in Mandarin meets every Monday at 10:30 a.m. for ages 2 to 5, and Spanish Language Story and Play, led by Juliette of Adventures in Spanish, takes place the third Saturday of each month from 10:30 to 11 a.m. for ages 0 to 5. The Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library sponsor all three programs.

Together, the lineup means Lake Oswego families with young children can access free, bilingual programming in Korean, Mandarin, or Spanish every single week of the month.
