Six candidates vying for four open Lake Oswego City Council seats will face voters at a forum on Friday, Oct. 23 at Park Academy, 1915 Southshore Blvd.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. Five neighborhood associations — Palisades, McVey/South Shore, Old Town, Evergreen and First Addition/Forest Hills — organized the forum with the Lake Oswego Review. Lake Oswego Review Editor Corey Buchanan will moderate.

"We plan to cover a range of topics and hope the event will be informative for local voters as they decide who should represent the community at City Hall," Buchanan said.

Candidates will not receive questions in advance, and organizers said the forum will focus on local issues.

The six candidates are Bryan Guiney, Peren Tiemann, Heather Ramsey, Neil Tunmore, Patrick Walsh and Suzanne Miles. No incumbents filed for re-election this cycle, according to the Lake Oswego Review. The field includes Guiney, a Lake Oswego Planning Commission member who served 21 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and Miles, a former assistant U.S. attorney.

Three winners will serve four-year terms starting Jan. 1, 2027. The fourth-place finisher will fill the remaining two years of former Councilor Aaron Rapf's seat, left vacant after his resignation in April, according to the city's elections page. That two-year term runs through Dec. 31, 2028.

The Oct. 23 event is the latest in a series of candidate forums this fall. A Lake Corporation forum on Sept. 23 drew five of the six candidates; Ramsey could not attend, the Lake Oswego Review reported. As we reported Oct. 8, a separate civic-groups forum was scheduled for Oct. 15. The Lake Oswego Review also noted that forums were planned by the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce and by the Lake Oswego Sustainability Network, Respond to Racism and LO for LOve.

Clackamas County voters are set to receive ballots ahead of the Nov. 3 election, according to the Lake Oswego Review.
